Whats all the rage for 2011 hair??? Well it may be time to get out curling irons out again ladies because messy, wavy, textured hair is the look for spring. The great thing about this look is that it can be done on any haircut. So you can keep your favorite cut and just update it with a little stylin.
How To Get The Look:
1) let hair dry naturally with some sort of leave in moisturizer to enhance your natural texture.
2) Use a 1" barrel curling iron or larger (or styling iron) and randomly curl pieces, leaving ends out of iron for a more natural look. Curl to the root on the top layers and just hit the ends on under layers.
3) for more volume and texture flip head over and spray roots with dry shampoo.
4) for even more texture rub hair paste or clay into fingers and then run fingers gently through hair.

Spray In Dry Shampoo - Try It!
Have you tried dry shampoo yet? Here is a list of my four favorites and why I like each of them.
1) UNITE 7Seconds Dry, Solace Salon. Cost: $23
2) TIGI ROCKAHOLIC Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo, Ulta $19
-Both are great for the gal that wants her hair to feel clean and doesn't like the feel of product. Neither of these two dry-shampoos will greatly increase your hairs natural volume but you will feel and look clean. Both quickly absorbed oil and have nice citrus scents. The difference between the two? Unite 7Seconds Dry is made of more natural ingredients.
3) OJON Rub-Out Dry Cleanser - This is my favorite travel product. It even comes in a mini size that you can carry with you in your carry-on bag. Great for the gal that wants clean hair and some volume but with little residue. This product quickly absorbs oil, and smells wonderful. By just spraying this in daily I was able to go for FIVE days without washing! (Side note: I did have to re-curl my ends)
Buy at: Sephora MOA. Cost: $21
4) UMBERTO Dry Clean Dry Shampoo - Great for the gal that wants tons of volume. You will feel it in your hair; its a little gritty. And you may have to go back and brush spots to blend in the product. But you will have instant mega volume. I even use it on my crown when my hair is clean for a backcombed effect. Buy at: Target Cost: $9
NOTE: When using dry shampoo, shake regularly while using, to keep the ingredients well mixed. If the nozzle clogs, flip the bottle upside down and press the nozzle side to and back and forth until it unclogs.
Long Hair - Quick Styles.
Here are some ideas for you gals with long hair!
(Click on photos to see them larger.)

Side part with bangs twisted and pinned (works best if you curl the bangs first) or side part with braid (works best if you put dry shampoo in the bangs first).

Headbands or just pinning the bangs to the side works too.

Your bangs driving you nuts? Backcomb or spray them with dry shampoo (and crown area if you like), gently brush back, spritzing with hairspray as you go and pin into place.

Half up with a little teasing in the crown is a quick way to do something different. And a great way to show off fun earrings!

Long Hair - Ponys, Braids and Twist

The sleek pony, placed mid head or higher says: confidence! (But NO scrunchies allowed!)

The low pony is soft and feminine.

And my personal favorite: The messy pony with the teased crown.

Braids are all the rage. French braids, side braids, random braids or even Palin's half braid. For curly haired girls twisting and pinning small sections can give the look of a braid without creating fuzzies.

Long Hair - French Twist & Buns

Buns have come along way. The look great high or low with a few loose hairs falling out.
Or try a twist AND a bun! the bottom is twisted and the top is a loose bun!

A french twist, messy or smooth is as classic and ageless as it gets.

Long Hair As We Age
What is the key to keeping our hair long as we get older?
3 key things:
1) Not too long. Somewhere between the collar bone and the arm pit. Some women can go longer if they have lots of natural volume, or backcomb. Height on the top of the head can balance the longer length.
2) Layers are important. They give the hair volume and help to take the focus off the chin and neck areas. (Earrings also help draw attention away from the neck and chin area)
3) Use a styling iron or large curling iron to give your bangs, fringe and crown area a little bounce. (Sponge or Velcro rollers work well too - put them in as soon as your done blow-drying and leave them in till the hair feels cool to the touch)
4) Bring out your eyes and cheeks. Wear a little extra, or a little darker eye make-up. And put the focus on the last places that wrinkles, your cheeks! A warm coral or peach on the apples of the cheeks draws the eyes up and gives a youthful glow.

Color Trixx
Here a few fast tips n trixx on haircolor:
=lightening hair roughs up the hair shaft (see blog on volume trixx), making hair look and feel thicker.
=the darker the color the thinner the hair will appear.
=lighter or brighter color or foils applied on just the top will elongate the face.
=lighter or brighter color or foils applied on just the sides will help balance a long face.
=Hair that is one solid color will appear shinier, smoother.
=The higher contrast the colors are in a head of hair, the more hairs there will appear to be. (Try: Highlight and Lowlight foils that are as light and as dark as you can handle.)
=We don't really get 'gray' hair. Rather our natural color looses it warm tones. But we do get white hairs that have no pigment. The white strands mixed with the natural color looks gray.
=Since as we age we loose the warm tones in our hair, cool toned hair is associated with older people and warm toned hair associated with youth. One way to look younger: pick out the warmest color your skin tone can handle.
= Trying to decide which hair color tones you look best in? Think about what colors you look best or worst in. Cant wear yellow? Avoid hair color with a gold base. Look amazing in yellow? Aim for color with strong gold tones. Other colors to consider: Oranges, Reds, Violets, Cool Purples, Pinks, and even Green. All hair color has one or more of these undertones.
=Color does one of three things to skin tone: Makes it look more: tan, pale, yellow or red.
Bonus Tips

=The lighter your hair color the more your skin tone and lips become the focus.
=The darker your hair color the more your eyes become the focus.
=The exception to this rule - Hair color that is darker than your skin tone can naturaly handle will put the focus back on your skin. How to wear super dark hair? Use creme blush on your cheeks to keep from looking washed out.
=How to put the focus back on your eyes? Eye make-up! A good smokey eye does wonders! It can even make you look years younger! (Not sure how to do a smokey eye? Make an appointment at MAC for a lesson.)
