Learn to Backcomb!

Yes, its time to learn how to backcomb ladies. Every celebrity, of every age, short hair or long, walking down those red carpets has backcombing in their hair and every stylist knows it the secret to great looking hair. Time to learn!

a) Starting right behind your bangs or face fringe, take a rectangular section about 3-4 inches wide and 1-2 inches deep (see photo). Holding that section straight up, take a brush or comb and backcomb until the roots stand up on their own.
b) Spray section at roots with hairspray. No backcombing will hold for very long without product. For big hair my favorite is Aveda's Pure Abundance. For hair that so heavy or so straight that it doesn't want to hold any backcombing use Big Sexy Hair What a Tease.
c) Repeat sectioning, backcombing and spraying down center of your head (it should look like you kinda have a mohawk). Then finish with two or three horizontal sections on each side of the head.
d) Gently brush over the backcombing and smooth out any visible bumps.
