Tips on Salons, Stylist, and Haircuts

Finding a New Salon

- Look up salons on-line and check out reviews. No salon has perfect reviews but you should be able to get a good feel what is good about the salon and maybe what they need to work on.

- Sometimes you just have to wander in and check the salon out to see if its your style. You don't have to buy anything, just ask for a price list and chat with the front desk. If the salon is clean and organized, your stylist has likely been trained on being clean and organized in there work. If you feel like the front desk receptionist is a snooty brat then go somewhere else.

Finding a New Stylist

-When researching salon reviews online keep an eye open for stylist that regularly get great reviews. And pay attention as to why they get great reviews.

-When trying out a new salon always ask for someone that has been doing hair for at least a year. A stylist learns so much there first year out on the job but you don't need to be the guinea pig they learn it on.

-When scheduling a service with a new stylist ask to schedule a consultation prior to the service. This ensures that the stylist has plenty of time to really look at you, your hair, and isn't in a rush because of a previous late client.

- If you have curly hair ask for a stylist that also has curly or wavy hair OR has had training on cutting and styling waves and curls.

Finding a New Haircut

- When looking at pictures and people take a close look at what the bangs and face framing looks like. How heavy is it? How long is it? How far over is the part? All these things can make a big difference in the overall look.

- If you have straight hair then skip photos of women with waves - unless your willing to curl your hair. And if you have curly hair skip pictures of women with straight hair unless your willing to straighten.

-And lastly if you see someone with the exact cut you would love to have, go ask where they get there hair done, and by whom. You can even ask to ask to take their picture! Trust me most women will be in heaven if you ask to take their picture because you love their hair. Wouldn't you be?
